Day 52 - Calistoga to Brookings

Departure from Napa Valley. Fog and rain again.

In this neck of the woods - you sure ain't a cool kid unless you've got one of these.

The Eyes are still watching. And waiting.

Meanwhile, Confusion Hill is still extremely confusing.

And the rain is relentless today.

The redwoods are even more mysterious in the rain. And the road is slippery.

We have tried for years to get a good picture of Bigfoot, who usually hangs around this location. Of course, all pictures of Bigfoot are blurry, so we have failed, like all the rest. It turns out that all photos of this entire location are always blurry, even if Bigfoot isn't around, which he isn't today.

Every river we have seen today is over its banks.

Even the redwoods weep today.

Back to what counts as civilization - in Eureka.

Cheapest room of the trip. Wow - rates are going up fast!

Less and less of the drive in theatre each time we pass. It's been overtaken by RV storage.

The Green Valley Motel in Orick has finally shut its doors. It used to contend for the cheapest advertised price award.

The wonders of modern photography - "Paul and Babe" were invisible in the dark as we whizzed by. Crank up the ISO and voila they have been revealed. They need a better cloaking device.

Last possible thing you can buy before you leave Califronia.

It was a long road day. But now we can sit back and take in some good grog and food at the Fat Irish in Brookings. They've gone all out on the seasonal decor.
